Fort Richmond Collegiate Varsity Boys Hockey 2019-2020

I've always watched hockey games on TV whenever they’re on and I have been going to FRC’s games to support my high school and my friends on the team since 2017. Even though I enjoy cheering on my buddies, it never really got me that engaged watching from the stands.

But starting off shooting games in October 2019 gave me a whole new perspective of the game. Looking through the viewfinder of my camera with my 70-300mm telephoto lens allowed me to watch every little detail of the game. As I got more comfortable shooting hockey I began to predict where plays and hits would happen and could set up my shot exactly how I wanted. This lead to capturing moments I totally overlooked when watching from the stands; seeing emotions, rivalries, and celebrations right as they were happening.
